Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Publisher’s Summary: One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

My Take: Oh! My! Gosh! I can't believe I survived another day after reading this book! While reading, my nerves had already gotten so out-of-control that I started to think I might combust! I was seriously worried that someone might end up finding my smoldering remains in a heap of ashes right in the place I was sitting! That would have been bad, because I honestly don't think that Jaime from Two Chicks on Books would have been very happy if her ARC of Insurgent went up in flames.

And now I’m sitting here trying to sort through all my thoughts that are in disarray about this book! My mind is going a mile a minute, and I don’t know how the heck I can put it all in one review! I mean, right here and now I want to talk about everything…the romance, then the mourning, then the heartbreak, then the action, then the chaos, and then the corruption…and I could keep going on and on because there is so much to say! And even though I honestly can say for sure that I loved Divergent, it does not even come close to comparing with how awesome Insurgent is!

OK…the bottom line is that Veronica Roth did it again! She created a fabulous book that includes some totally breathtaking twists and betrayals! And ones I didn’t even suspect or see coming! Because about midway through the book I was actually contemplating whether or not there really could be any other twists or surprises. I mean, I just assumed that we already knew all the “who's and what's” in this story from Divergent! Right? Wrong! Holy crap was I wrong...totally wrong! Oh! My! Gosh! The last half of the book is pure craziness! It was so crazy that I seriously considered not taking my boys to baseball practice just so I could keep reading without interruption! Now that is a serious addiction.

One of the many things I loved about Insurgent is that we finally got to see and get an idea about what it is like in the other factions. I’ll have to admit that it would totally suck to live in even a single one of those factions, but they weren't as bad as I thought they would be. Don't get me wrong; the lifestyles of every one of them are quite bizarre, but I guess I expected to be horrified…instead, they fascinated me! Like, this could totally be real!

After reading Divergent, there was only one thing that really bothered me about the entire book, and that was Will’s death. I felt like his death happened all too quick! And then the normal emotions I felt that Tris should be having were totally missing from her, and it really bothered me. Well Insurgent totally makes up for that! Tris’s mourning over the losses of her loved ones in Insurgent plays a vital role in the book, especially her mourning over the loss of Will.

I don't want to say too much about the romance in Insurgent…other than the fact that I totally and unconditionally love Four! Yeah I know, I know…I already fell in love with Four in Divergent, but I’m head-over-heels in love with Four now!

Lastly, I have to talk about the killer ending! The ending to Insurgent was awesomely brilliant, but it was seriously a killer ending that has me craving for book 3. To be perfectly honest, I did not have the strength in me to be shocked by that ending because my nerves were already in shock and I was numb. I knew it was leading up to something crazy along the lines that it did, but if you wanna know what I’m talking about, well you will just have to read it! Get it now! It's released today!!! And enjoy!

Quotes to share:
“Sleep,” he says. “I’ll fight the bad dreams off if they come to get you.”
“With what?”
“My bare hands, obviously.”

“Got your gun?”
“No,” says Tobias, “I figured I would shoot the bullets out of my nostrils, so I left it upstairs.”
“Oh, shut up.”

Oh my goodness gracious! I am practically squirming in my chair from how much your review has me wanting to run out and buy Insurgent right now. I have forced myself to put it off until I read some of these other books i have stacked up. I’m most excited about getting to learn more about the other factions! I am so glad that she included them in this book and that you liked the info that she supplied! Thanks for your awesome review!
